New from 27 September: we check the EU notice on the legal guarantee
From 27 September 2026 every online shop in the EU has to show the harmonised EU notice on the legal guarantee. ShopWatch now tells you whether yours does, and how to add it in a few minutes.
What changes on 27 September
An EU implementing regulation makes the harmonised notice on the legal guarantee of conformity mandatory for every seller of goods. Online it belongs on your website as a general reminder: a sentence like "Your legal guarantee rights" in the header, in the catalogue or at checkout that opens the full notice, plus a clickable link to the EU guarantees page. The Commission also asks for it in the order confirmation.
What ShopWatch checks
The trust category has a new check. Your shop passes when it links the EU guarantees page (europa.eu/youreurope/guarantees) or when it shows the Commission's own notice file. If we only find a sentence about the legal guarantee, we say so and name what is missing. Until 26 September the finding is a heads-up and costs no points; from 27 September it counts like any other legal gap.
How to add it in a few minutes
Download the official notice in colour from the European Commission, in your language and in high resolution - the files and the rules are on europa.eu/youreurope/business/selling-in-eu/consumer-contracts-guarantees. Put a short sentence with the link into your footer or header so it is on every page, and let it open the notice. Add the notice to your order confirmation e-mail as well. Your action plan carries the same steps for your shop.
What it means for your score
From 27 September a missing notice lowers your trust score, which is 15 percent of the ShopWatch Score, so at most about two points of your total. You will see it as a small step in your score history. The reason is always visible in the finding, as with every deduction.
